Project goal – to increase the accessibility of the Baltic countries from the EU countries and to ensure the rail systems’ compatibility to the rest of Europe, to prepare project “Rail Baltica” existing railway section signalling and communications reconstruction technical project for 5 structures in the railway section Marijampolė-Kaunas (64 km), including the railway stations of Marijampolė, Kazlų Rūda, Mauručiai, Jiesia, Rokai and Kaunas.
Technical project was prepared for implementation of a collated gauge of 1435/1520 mm or for an additional gauge of 1435 mm, for 22.5 tons axle load and 120 km/h and 80 km/h speed of respectively passenger and freight trains.
