Project goal – to perform the demand’s of the intermodal transportation services through Lithuania determination tests, to examine the possibilities (to review economical, legal, technological and other key aspects that influence the absence of such transportation in Lithuania at the time) and to offer solutions (to perform cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, to offer solutions for the unification of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and EU countries legal base and transportation nomenclature); to identify the economic, technical and technological, legal, social, administrative and other reasons, limiting the intermodal rail transportation volume growth and to propose the measures for the removal of these barriers.

In the feasibility study the situation of the transit transportation through Lithuania in these days would be disclosed and the trends identified. One of the main outcomes of the implementation of the study is the creation of equal activity and development conditions for all kinds of transport in all the countries related in cargo flows via Lithuania. In the final result the harmonization of transportation system along the corridor and the resulting cooperation of transport and logistics companies with industry and commerce business have to stimulate the growth in a global sense of the economic competitiveness of each country and the whole related region.
